How the time flies! It's already the middle of July, my little girl is already 5.5 months and I haven't posted in ages. In the last post I mentioned how I made a cake for our youth bake sale/cake auction. That same day I got my first order here in Sudbury. A couple approached me and asked me to make a cake for their mother's birthday. They didn't have much of an idea of what they were looking for, so I took care of the design, hoping they would like it. It turned out to be a success. They also couldn't decide between chocolate or vanilla, so I made one layer chocolate, and one vanilla! Best of both worlds. The cake was made to look like a present. The bow was slightly tricky, I spend a lot of time placing and replacing each layer, but in the end I was pleased. :)

Spring is in the Air
I haven't been able to do much in the way of cakes since we've moved here. The past 8 weeks have been crazy anyway, due to the cutest newest addition to our lives. But this week the youth group that my husband pastor's at, held a bake sale/Cake auction. Our kitchen turned into a mini bakery, with tons of cupcakes, cookies, brownies and cakes being made. It smelt heavenly, but I feel a major sugar rush from all the taste testing. I was able to make a cake for the auction in my spare time lol IT was quite the busy week let me tell you, but I enjoyed it.
Since the weather here has been beautiful I wanted to do a spring cake. I found a few pictures on line that I really liked, so I took parts from each and made my own creation.
I made a red velvet from scratch using a different recipe then normal and it turned out really well. It had a few extra tedious steps but worth it in the end.
Hope the winners enjoyed it!!

A+
Since moving to Sudbury I haven't had much of an opportunity to make many cakes. Obviously being new to the city, not knowing many people, being pregnant and than having a baby has made it slightly difficult. We are currently renting an apt from a fabulous couple that I've had the privilege of knowing for a few years now. Back in November it was the Mrs. 50th birthday and I wanted to surprise her with a little cake. She is a ECE teacher at an elementary school. So I thought it would be cute to make a teacher themed cake. I made a red velvet cake, and decorated it with different school essentials. The apple looks more like a tomato :)

A special Reunion
At the beginning of September, my sister-in-laws old neighbor had contacted me looking for a cake. She saw the cake I made for my sister in laws shower and loved it. It was her daughters birthday, and it was a special one for them. So she wanted a special cake to celebrate. She liked the style from the shower, so I stuck to the same idea but made a few changes so that it was special to her. I used the same color pink, but put lace over top. I included her name and different flowers. I love simple and pretty designs. Here it is...

Moving, babies and birthdays!
The past few weeks have been super hectic! So much going on in our lives right now, which is why I'm behind on the blogs. At the beginning of August my husband accepted a job to Pastor at a church in Sudbury On. which is about 7.5 ish hours away from our current location. So we began a journey of prepping our house, and making arrangements for the next few months. Even though his first official day in the office wasn't till Nov.1st we had a lot to do, and the time ended up going by so much faster that I thought. But we have safely landed in Sudbury and are enjoying it tremendously. Expect for the drivers..drivers in Sudbury scare me, just saying. Since I only had 3 months left of my pregnancy there is no point in looking for a job so I am currently unemployed and waiting for my sweet baby to show up! We have 10 weeks left and I'm getting anxious...
Back to cakes! At the end of August our niece Norah had her first birthday! They had quite the party for her. When we were discussing ideas my sister in law mentioned that she would like their family dog to be included in this cake. Cause Norah loves her dog. So after looking around and getting ideas, I thought I would try my hand at little figurines again. I decided to make a little girl and her dog sitting outside. It was a two tier cake, so I covered it in yellow and pipped green grass along the bottoms, and even drew on some paw prints. I'm hoping I get better at the little figurines because I wasn't entirely happy with how they turned out. But hopefully practice makes perfect! The pictures aren't the greatest quality, since I had to take them from my phone.
So that has been our story for the last few months. Sad to no longer serving Essex County but hoping to serve the Greater Sudbury area in the near future!
